The P.C. Bop is a version of the bop that got it's name from dancers in Panama City, Fl in the 50's and 60's. Teens flocked to "P.C." for Spring Break and summer vacation. Many of us spent hot summer days and warm nights dancing in the center stall of the pavillion at Long Beach Resort called the "Hang-Out." The breeze blew in from the gulf, music boomed from the juke box, and we danced. Dancers came together from various cities in the Southeast ...Birmingham, Atlanta, Columbus, and friendships and romances began. Some of the dancers met their soul mate on the dance floor, married, raised families, and are still dance partners.
To these people, the bop is much more than a dance - in our youth it was a means of expression, a connection with friends, a way of life. It is much more than a memory still.
Working for every bop club are people who have lived it and loved it - and will forever strive to keep the dance strong and the memory alive.
